“I was born and raised on my parents’ farm on `t Gein near Abcoude. I took over the farm in 2001 and now I have the care of 70 dairy cows, mainly ones we have bred ourselves. There are still descendants of my granddad’s cows, Eppy, Tiny and Beppy, here on the farm. Mind you, these give about twice as much milk as the cows did 70 years ago! I believe it’s important to let the cows go outside. It’s a tradition in the Groene Hart region; besides, you can only make that authentic cheese from genuine pasture milk.
